The Ozark Spring Chapter, NSDAR, joined the SAR Josiah Howell Chapter to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The event featured a fireworks display at the West Plains High School football field on July 8, 2026. The fireworks were provided by a local business and sponsors. Ozark Spring members also assisted by managing the refreshment stand and taking photos of participants in front of the America 250 banner. Daughters were there from set up to take down.
Registrars from both chapters were on-site to provide membership information to attendees. The public also visited with representatives from the Howell County Sherif’s Department, West Plains City Police, Fire Department, Ambulance District, and a local Boy Scout unit. These first responders had fun activity handouts for children. Prior to the fireworks, the Josiah Howell Chapter read the Declaration of Independence for the public, following an earlier reading at the Howell County Courthouse that day.
