On July 8, our chapter participated in the event to read the Declaration of Independence at the historic Greene County Courthouse. It was 250 years ago on that day that Colonel John Nixon was the first person to publicly read the Declaration from the steps of the Pennsylvania State House, now Independence Hall. Former Missouri Governor, Jay Nixon, a descendant of Col. Nixon, did the reading. The invocation was given by our chaplain, Amy Westermann, and our members led the Pledge to Allegiance.
